It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day! A bit of trivia for a second post. Did you know today is International Talk like a Pirate Day? I had no idea until I was informed of it earlier today. How could I let this pass me up in the creative department?

After I walked Riley I decided to quickly throw a pirate bag together to hold some pirate goodies. Next, I've got run to Target and get the pirate eye patches they have in their Halloween section (a big bag of them for about $4 or so) before I hit Brett's class just before dismissal and hand out the patches. What 5th grader wouldn't like an eye patch to wear home?
I know it wouldn't be welcome in the class before dismissal! Imagine the mayhem! LOL
Pirate bags are scrungy and distressed, right? So a white lunch bag has been direct to paper distressed with an Adirondack Latte stamp pad, a quick, not so perfect Broad Stripes backgrounder stamp in Red Pepper on top of that. Then roll the tops down and staple on some twill tape for handles. The Skull and Crossbones image is another one from CHF that I got because Brett wanted me to get it. It's quickly stamped onto black Bazzill card stock with Versamark and dunked into White ep. The panel is distressed and torn, a grommet and some string from the garage is added and it's done. Just attach to the bag with dimensional foam and fill with pirate treasures!
2 posts in one day - you should see my stamp area!
Arrrr! Arrrrr! I be needin' t' have a bit of a lie-down' but instead I must clean up!

Happy "Talk Like a Pirate Day"! Arrgh matey!
I'm a resource teacher in CA and at our big district meeting today they had signs posted in Pirate speak. I would have loved to give the director who got into the spirit a pirate bag like yours. By the way, he wore a hook and eye patch. Some people really have spirit! Have a great weekend!

Verrrrry cool Pirate sack, matey! This whole week was Pirate Week for the thirrrrrrrrd graders. They made treasure maps, their own flags, and on Friday their teacher gave them bandanas and eye patches to wear! They looked verrry fearsome!
